MDC-M wont back radio closures

radioBULAWAYO The MDC-M has said it has refused to bow to Zanu (PF) pressure to call for the closure of foreign radio stations.

The MDC-M was commenting on recent calls by President Robert Mugabe for both wings of the MDC to call for the barring of foreign radio stations. Mugabe claimed that foreign radio stations run by exiled Zimbabwean journalists were pro-MDC and were sources of information for Western countries, thereby undermining the shaky unity government.

Zanu (PF) should instead be focusing on more practical issues concerning the implementation of the Global Political Agreement (GPA) rather than wasting a lot of energy concentrating on petty issues, said Victor Nyoni the MDC-Ms Director of Information for the southern region.
