Premiership matches came to a halt on October 17 as Zimbabwe played hosts to 12 regional countries in a prestigious tournament the Warriors won to claim their fourth championship title with a sweet victory over old enemy Zambia.

With all top four teams involved in tricky encounters this afternoon, the top-flight league is bound to witness some fireworks at both Rufaro and Gwanzura stadiums in the capital, and Bulawayos Barbourfields Stadium.

Log leaders Dynamos face Bulawayo giants Highlanders in another epic clash of Zimbabwes two biggest football teams.

The Glamour Boys won the first meeting in Harare with a 4-1 score line that left Bosso supporters calling for the dismissal of head coach Madinda Ndlovu.

But today Highlanders new Egyptian mentor, Mohammed Fathy faces his real test when his troops host their rivals from the capital.

The match remains very crucial for Dynamos who will need to maintain their top spot ahead of title contenders Gunners.

Moses Chungas charges, who have so far fought gallantly throughout the season, need to summon everything in their arsenal when they take on a desperate Highway at Gwanzura this afternoon.

Highway will be seeking all three points in their match against Gunners to ensure they start creeping out of the murky waters of relegation.

Chunga is not expecting any negative effects from the COSAFA break on his team but the former Zimbabwe skipper hopes the friendly matches they have been playing have helped keep the players in shape.

“We have been having some friendly matches during the break but it is not the same as having competitive games, but such is life and we have to adapt to the situation, said Chunga.

“I dont look much on what is happening in other teams or our opponents camp; I worry about how we are going to apply ourselves because I believe that we can only be our worst enemies. Everyone has remained disciplined and focused on the job at hand.

CAPS United take on a tricky Lengthens side with the Green Machine hoping to eke out a result that will keep them within reach of their targeted top five finish.

MaKepeKepe mentor Lloyd Chitembwe hopes the return of six of his victorious Warrior contingent Tafadzwa Rusike, Method Mwanjali, Gilbert Mapemba, Edmore Sibanda, Ashley Rambanapasi and Nyasha Mushekwi will strengthen the team in form and character.

It will be a positive thing for us, all we need to do is welcome them back in the team they are our players and there is nothing new they dont know about how we play so we just need to remind each other what our aims are when we go out there and play, said Chitembwe.

Fixtures today: Black Rhinos v Underhill (Baghdad); Lengthens v CAPS United (Rufaro); Highlanders v Dynamos (Barbourfields); Gunners v Highway (Gwanzura).

Wednesday: Highway v Eagles (Sakubva), Bantu Rovers v Hwange (Barbourfields).
