Promoters have signed up the two superstars for their first ever appearance together on a UK stage. Ready or not, here we come, said Malaikas Tshedi Mholo on her Facebook profile soon after the announcement. Yes, its true: Malaika and Tuku, live in London. Here we come.
A spokesperson for Jive Zone, promoters for the show, said the two superstar groups would only be performing at Londons Stratford Rex on November 18.
Malaika are a synchronised and stylish unit setting new trends in the music industry.
From teasing their appreciative audiences with their first hit, Destiny, to unleashing Muntuza and their latest album, Malaika seem to be on fire.
Their first album, Malaika, sold more than 250,000 copies in South Africa. Tuku, of course, is no slouch either. One of the most charismatic performers in African music, he is a heartthrob to millions of adoring fans.
Tuku knows how to keep the rhythms swirling and the melodies bright. He does it by fronting a guitar-heavy band that uses powerful vocal harmonies and infectious pop hooks to keep audience members on their feet.
Lots of artists make their fans happy with vapid lyrics clothed in the style of the day. Mtukudzis messages, sung in native dialects such as Shona, Ndebele and occasionally in English, range from womens rights and AIDS prevention to the responsibilities of fatherhood. Heavy subjects all, but the mood is never dark.
