CHIHOTA - Zanu (PF) provincial secretary for security, Lawrence Katsiru, has banned apostolic sects which do not support his party from preaching in Chihota rural area.Katsiru recently wrote a letter to the villagers advising them to cease preaching under sects which do not meet his criteria. The letter was read to the people by Zanu (PF) councillor for ward 17, Timothy Timbe.
We were shocked to learn that all apostolic sects not affiliated to Katsirus Johane Masowe are not allowed to practice in the area, said one villager. The letter indicated that failure to comply with Katsirus directive would attract unspecified disciplinary action.
Members of other apostolic sects are living in fear of Katsiru whom they described as ruthless. Katsiru is notorious for championing abduction and disappearances of suspected MDC supporters in the Mashonaland East province. He is Sydney Sekeramais henchman. People take his threats seriously, said another Chihota villager.
Church sessions at the Johane Masowe sect led by Katsiru in Yellow City, Marondera, are punctuated by Zanu (PF) slogans.
