The trio: Boston Jochoma, 31, Andrew Chinyan’anya, 28 and Charles Mukwayo, 21 appeared before Masvingo magistrate Esther Muremba facing charges of robbery.
They were convicted and sentenced to 12 years imprisonment.
In October 2008, the victim, Simon Mweyamweya, parked his car at Chakohwa business centre in Nyanyadzi.
While he was parking, the trio posing as police officers told him that he was under arrest for parking his car at a prohibited place.
Mukwayo told Mweyamweya that they were taking him to the police station, but they turned the car into a gravel road and ransacked the car. They stole a pistol with a
magazine which had six rounds and cash amounting to 65 000 rand and US$1 500.
The three were part of the seven prisoners who broke out of the Masvingo Remand Prison early this year.
