HARARE More heads in local authorities will roll, said the head of the MDC Investigating Team, Morgan Komichi.Two top officials of the party in Chitungwiza, Rangarirai Muchingende and the disgraced mayor, Isaac Marange, were axed from the party after they were found guilty of corruption. However, residents felt that the two were not the only corrupt elements in the party and called on the MDC to recall all the councillors.
Almost every councillor from the MDC got 10 stands and that is corrupt practice, said Authur Taderera, the Chairman of Chitungwiza Residents Association (CHIRRA).
However Komichi said that the Investigating team did not have enough evidence to expel the councillors under the MDC Corruption Act.
We are still waiting for evidence so that we will act upon every party official who has breached the party constitution. We are not only investigating the town of Chitungwiza, but every local authority so that as a party we set an example that we are against corruption, said Komichi.
