policeman_nurseVICTORIA FALLS - A senior police officer and a student nurse appeared at the magistrate court here on allegations of robbing a bottle store.

The pair allegedly stole more than US$1000 cash and a cell phone. Clayton Bande, a senior police officer based at Victoria Falls police station, and Bongani Tshuma, a student nurse at United Bulawayo Hospital, appeared before magistrate Richard Ramaboea on Friday. The court heard that on December 18 at midnight, Bande and Tshuma stormed into Supersaver bottle store in the town centre and ordered everybody to lie down. Then Bande produced a pistol before searching the handbag of one of the customers and stealing US$200 cash and a cell phone.

Tshuma searched another customer and stole US$900 cash from his wallet before running away. Ramaboea sent the two to remand prison and told them to approach the High Court for bail. This comes only a month after another senior police officer in Bulawayo was arrested for stealing household property from his junior.
