Rusape Town Council is reportedly bankrupt and has ran out of all commercial, industrial and residential stands, after Njobo allegedly sold all the existing, and even non-existent, space.
The charges against Njobo include prejudicing the council by selling the 2007 tobacco crop in his own growers name, swindling the council of about 2,500 litres worth of fuel coupons, failing to account for money made from hiring out the councils equipment and trucks, diverting cement meant for the housing schemes, orchestrating dubious stands for assets swaps without the councils approval and valuation reports, collecting and diverting cash from income-generating projects, failing to account for US$400 and 1,800 rand given to him for a trip to Beitbridge, and converting to his personal use groceries given to him by the Mars Marry Bus Service as payment for parking.
Njobo who was arrested by Rusapes Criminal Investigation Department (CID) is also facing six criminal charges two counts of corruptly concealing a personal interest in a transaction and four counts of theft.
