Caps United, Lengthens eye second hurdle

soccer_ballHARARE - Zimbabwean representatives in the 2010 CAF confederations Cup, Caps United and Lengthens, continued with their......

training session in the capital today, after a good start of the club championships preliminary round.

Caps United beat Swaziland outfit, Mbabane Highlanders 1-0 while Lengthens outwitted Madagascars As Adema 2-1 at Rufaro, last weekend.

The two coaches, Lloyd Chitembwe and Mandla Masuku, were impressed with their charges performance. The work is left to the two mentors to work on a game plan that will push them through to the first round of the continental showpiece when they face their opponents away from home, next week.

I told the boys to be patient and continue trying to do business the best way we know how, said Chitembwe. “We deserved to win it. We were in control especially in the second half but we lost a number of chances but I am happy our tactics worked. I am confident we will finish them off in Swaziland.”

Caps United as well as Lengthens need to step up their preparations for the return leg as their opponents will be determined to turn the tables on home soils. As Adema head coach, Rakotamiinosy Valery Ndimbinrainy, declared that “the game is still open in Madagascar where we will work on other tactics and can win.”

Mbabane Highlanders coach, Happy Sifumkwe, has plans to embarrass Caps United when they travel to Swaziland for the return leg.

“We were unlucky because we were in control for longer periods. We will turn the tables when they come to Swaziland in two weeks time,” said a determined Sifumkwe.

Despite winning the game last weekend, Masuku believes his charges are capable of doing more next week.

“I am happy with the overall performance of the team, but there is room for improvement, he said.
