Co-chairperson of the Constitutional Parliamentary Committee (COPAC), Douglas Mwonzora, said all the current cards are null and void. We are reissuing the cards which will be different in colour and will have changes to some of the features as soon as the new names are announced.
We are also going to publish the names of the people in the new outreach teams, Mwonzora said in an interview. A three-day training exercise for outreach teams held last month turned into chaos after a number of uninvited people turned up, claiming that they had also received invites that allowed them to be trained and incorporated into the outreach teams.
About 600 people had been invited by COPAC for training of the outreach teams but over 800 people turned up.
The exercise has been dogged by challenges, including lack of finances and disagreements between Zanu (PF) and the MDC over what course to take over the gathering of views.
The two parties have since agreed to use a document which resembles a questionnaire to gather peoples views on the process, which was allocated US$43million in the 2010 budget.
