Targeted ‘sanctions’ saved Zim – Mhlangu

thamsanqa_mahlanguMARONDERA - If the international community had not imposed targeted sanctions' on Mugabe and his inner circle, Zimbabweans would have been killed by Zanu (PF) thugs, turning the country into a mass grave, MDC national youth chairman, Thamusanga Mhlangu (pictured) told party youths here last week.

Mhlangu said imposed targeted measures were a result of Mugabe’s disrespect for human rights and the country was not under sanctions. “Zimbabwe is not under sanctions, but targeted restrictions against tyranny. Mugabe and Zanu (PF) invited targeted measures upon itself, because of dictatorial tendencies, such as disrespect of rule of law and will of the people expressed through general elections. Targeted sanctions stopped Mugabe and his cronies from killing opposing views and turning the country into a mass grave,” said Mhlangu.

He urged party youths to remain focused and desist from being used to fan factionalism within the MDC. “As youths, you must not be used by politicians for personal gains. Be focused and support elected party leadership until their terms of office expire,” Mhlangu added. He took the opportunity to tell youths that his responsibilities in government were equal to those of Zanu (PF)s Saviour Kasukuwere.

“Kasukuwere is representing Zanu (PF) while I am for MDC. We are equal partners.”
