HARARE - The MDC deputy organising secretary, Morgan Komichi has dismissed as false allegations that some MDC councillors have evicted families in the high-density suburb of Glen View.Komichi said there were some interested persons within the government who had masterminded the evictions through the civil courts in the name of MDC councillors, adding that the party had no room for such corrupt activities.
We have demonstrated the extent to which corruption is not tolerated in our party by dismissing the Chitungwiza councillors on allegations of corruption and so it would be nave for anyone to believe that these alleged MDC councillors are spared in such a scam, he said in a telephone interview.
This is something that is being masterminded from elsewhere to discredit the peoples party. Our courts have been manipulated to such an extent that they are serving individual interests at the expense of the public, and where else can we suspect this to be coming from besides our long time rivals who view us as enemies.
State-controlled ZBC, Zimbabwes only television station, reported on Monday that ward 14 councillor Israel Marange, among other MDC councillors, had through the messenger of court evicted some families and re-allocated the homes to their allies.
