The book is titled Saving Zimbabwe. It was published in South Africa by Struik Christian Books. The book is mainly about The Community of Reconciliation near Esigodini in Matabeleland South. Speaking to The Zimbabwean before the launch the author Bob Scott says he was impressed by this community which he believes must be a model for the world. Bob says some white Zimbabweans abandoned their suburban life in Bulawayo and bought a barren land near Mbezigwe. They developed the area to a farm. They lived side by side with black Zimbabweans as brothers and sisters. They developed the area built a Community Centre and were integrated into the community. In the book Mr Scott says, they had demonstrated that the grace of God, black Africans and white Africans could live together. They had established a genuine expression of the Kingdom of God that modelled a racial harmony, feeding the oppressed poor and forming a self sustaining small village economy. They demonstrated that age-old hatreds could be put to rest. They called their little expression The Community of Reconciliation. The white Zimbabweans established two farms the Olive Tree and New Adams farm and stayed in the farms with blacks. Bob Scott says he was impressed in 1984 when he visited the place and sat on the logs, shared sadza with some Zimbabweans with blacks and whites eating form the same plate. There is a picture in the book to show this. Mr Scott says he also realised the good relationship which existed between the two in the book when he says some black girls used to compete to sit on one of the (Gaynor) white villagers lap during the church service. Bob told The Zimbabwean that he sourced the funds for the building the dam in the community. Citrus fruits and vegetables thrived. Some villagers were taught some skills. Weaving, blacksmith, subsistence farming and small scale irrigation farming as well as cattle and goat rearing was done. The community was poised for the better future when tragedy struck. The dissidents led by Morgan Sango also know as Gayigusu came at night killed the eight whites at the New Adams farm and another eight at Olive Tree farms. The dissidents burnt the houses, vehicles and the community centre. Mr Scott says some people went to tell the dissidents lies which led them to come and massacre the residents of the community of reconciliation. Mr Scott says these white Zimbabweans were not missionaries who had came from a far but from Bulawayo to improve the lives of the poor villagers and they paid with their lives. The author says the community was like a new church after the death of Jesus Christ who came from different places to do one thing. The author says he got a word from God telling him that his friends cannot die in vain and he decided write a book and dedicate it to them. The book chronicles the history of Zimbabwe up to now. The author says Zimbabwe is in her current state because the leaders are self centred, and corrupt. The author also talks about the land invasions. He says in the book, when one is suddenly handed the reigns of the whole nation and given such power and authority its too intoxicating to handle. Men change. Brilliant men become stupid. Bitterness, resentment, unresolved conflicts in souls revenge becomes their obsession at the cost of everything else. Mugabe fell prey to what is hidden in his heart. Mugabe was in fact the emperor with no clothes. The book also talks about operation Murambatsvina which left a lot of Zimbabweans with no place to lay their heads. The book says Mugabe is paranoid of loosing power. The book have a Christian approach and says what can save Zimbabwe is to follow the community of reconciliation. He says they chose love over hate and integration over segregation. The author says women whom he prefers to call mothers should be given a chance to be in charge as they have proved to be selfless. He says they can choose to go hungry but feed the children and toil to send the children to school. Bob Scott says education is the solution to some of Zimbabwes problems. The author expresses his love for Africa and Zimbabwe in particular from the first time he set his foot. He loved the language, the singing, culture, the way they built the houses with quarry and thatched with grass. Bob Scott who is from Kansas City in the United States of America calls on the Christian community in the world to assist built Zimbabwe. He says justice, integrity and accountability and rule of law will see the country going to be the bread basket of Southern Africa. He argues, if Zimbabwe is to prosper and set from chains of corruption its children needs to be trained in the ways of the Kingdom of God. Jesus needs to be their real model and not Mugabe. Meanwhile Bob Scott has left South Africa for South Africa for Zimbabwe to launch the book on 30 April 2010. He is due to donate some medical supplies to Mtshabezi hospital and Voice of Peace orphanage in Harare. Mr Scott who is also an executive director of Compassionate Justice a non governmental organisation which renders humanitarian assistance to the poor. Bob Scott says he will continue to assist Zimbabwe which occupies a special place in his heart and to fulfil his friendss dreams who died in their work to save the poor. He says the medical supplies are 40 feet containers but could not say how much it cost. The dissidents killed the white Zimbabweans including the children aged 14 and 16 and two foreigners. /END
