Dynamos, Hwange fight over Vimisayi

HARARE Premier Soccer League (PSL) side Hwange are locked in a dispute with Harare giants Dynamos over the services of Soccer Star of the Year finalist Farai Vimisayi.

Vimisayi moved from the coalminers to join the Harare giants before the start of the season. Dynamos first registered the player for the Champions League without the consent of the coal miners who lodged a complaint with the Zimbabwe Football Association (ZIFA), accusing the Glamour Boys of poaching. Dynamos, however, moved swiftly and negotiated with Hwange for the release of the star player, allegedly promising to pay the coalminers US$25 000 for a permanent transfer. But DeMbare have reportedly reneged on their promise a move which has drawn the ire of Hwange who have directed the Harare giants to stop using the player.

Hwange spokesperson Burzil Dube said they had written to Dynamos instructing them to stop using the player until they paid the outstanding US$25 000 owed to them by Dynamos.

As far as things stand, Vimisayi is not a Dynamos player because they have not paid for his services. We have made it clear to them that they have to pay for the player to move. They are still to get back to us on their position but we have instructed them not to use him in any league games,” Dube said. He however, added that they had allowed Dynamos to use the player in international matches as they were representing the country.

Vimisayi was part of the squad that left for Botswana for the African Champions League second round second leg tie against Gaborone United. Vimisayi did not feature in Dynamos’ last two league matches against Highlanders and CAPS United. Dynamos also owe Airforce of Zimbabwe side Chapungu United $25 000 for the services of chief striker Cuthbert Malajila.
