Wakatama, and the councillors, Christopher Mazembe and Rindai Muchemwa were arrested last month before they were given a US$20 bail each and the case was postponed to today.
However, as they waited for their hearing to commence at the Bindura Magistrates courts, Law and Order police officers from Bindura central picked them up accusing the three of interfering with State witnesses. When the case started, the three were still detained at Bindura central and a warrant of arrest was issued for skipping the court case.
The MDC views the interference by the police as a deliberate ploy to have the three remanded in custody on flimsy charges.
