In answer to queries raised by The Zimbabwean seeking to clarify the latest on agricultural production and the role of JAG as the population of commercial farmers is reduced everyday, the farmers organisation confirmed the fight for recognition by the authorities goes on. Without giving figures, JAG spokesman, John Worsley-Worswick, said the size of membership was continuing to include even those that were no longer farming and have left the country for various reasons.
“Our membership continues to grow regardless of how many farmers are on the land. Most of our members are no longer farming, but they remain committed to Zimbabwe wherever they are in the world and whatever they are doing,” said Worsley-Worswick. On how many members of JAG have so far been affected by the wave of current farm disruptions Worswick did not give a detailed account. He declined to disclose names of the affected membership but said, All our members still farming are being adversely affected”.
