Jairos Jiri widow evicted

BULAWAYO - Jairos Jiri Association (JJA) board has evicted the founders widow from its premises accusing her of disturbing their operations.

JJA is a philanthropic organisation set up in 1950 to support and to train disadvantaged people. Its founder Jairos Jiri died in 1982 and was declared Zimbabwes national hero.

However, last week Jiris widow Betty was evicted from the associations vocational centre in Nguboyenja high density suburb in Bulawayo. JJA had filed an urgent application in the High Court seeking an order to evict Betty and her children from its premises saying there were disturbing operations.

The respondents and all those claiming title through them be and are hereby permanently interdicted from interfering with the operations of the applicant in any manner countrywide, reads part of the High Court order issued by Justice Maphios Cheda.

Justice Cheda also ordered Betty to return all JJA property in her possession with immediate effect.

The respondents are also be and are hereby interdicted from interfering with the applicants peaceful possession of its properties and motor vehicles, said Cheda Betty has been embroiled in a row with JJA board for the past 25 years over the ownership of properties.
