Mom, Im hungry!

Give us this day our daily bread Matthew 6:11
Note this verse does not end off with a question mark, it is not a question, its not saying, Oh God, I know I dont deserve it, but would You please give me a crumb so I wont starve and perish today? No! This is a demand: Give us this day our daily bread! Its not an arrogant demand, like, God Im forcing You.

Its more like a child coming into the kitchen and saying, Mom, Im hungry!

Does the mother grab him by the ear and say, beg me! No! Providing meals is just part of the family relationship. Children expect their Dad and Mom to meet their needs. Its familiarity with their parents love that makes them bold in their approach.

God wants us to be this way with Him. He desires all believers to be so familiar with His love that our approach to Him is bold, (Heb 4:16) He yearns for His children to believe that all the provision they need, has already been made. They just have to reach out in faith and take it.

Father, thank You! I receive my healing, I take my prosperity. I love You, Father! You arent making God do something. You just know in your heart that Hes already supplied, so you reach out and take it.

Not many Christians pray this way. We come before Him more like beggars than children. We enter His presence feeling like God doesnt really want to move o my behalf, so we need to beg and plead to make Him move on our behalf. God is offended and doesnt bless you.

Give us our day our daily bread. Just take advantage of what Hes already done. Appropriate it!

And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation. Matthew 6:12,13

This cannot be a New Covenant prayer. Your sins have been forgiven. You dont need to keep confessing them and praying, Forgive us our sins, forgive us our sins. When you believe Jesus died for you and rose from the dead and confess it, your sins are forgiven, past, present and future.

You dont have to pray, God dont lead me into temptation. He definitely wont! What loving Father would? When Jesus spoke these words in Matthew 6, it was before the cross and resurrection.

Jesus was led into temptation on our behalf and overcame the devil. (Matt 4:1-11) If you are being led into temptation, you can be sure that it isnt God. (James 1:13, 14) In light of this truth, you can pray, Father I know its not Your will for me to be tempted. – I would love to hear from anyone who is reading these articles.
