PM a light for businesses

tsvangirai_sumitCHISUMBANJE - The Prime Minister of Zimbabwe, Morgan Tsvangirai (pictured), has been hailed as the only hope to salvage Zimbabwe from the political and economic doldrums, by business people here.

This came out at the local business wards organised by Centre for Rural Development Projects (CRDP) last week.

The business people said they were operating under very difficult and unfriendly conditions that were not conducive to their business environment.

Speaking at the occasion, Thomas Dandare, who was representing the business people in the area, said: The office of the Prime Minister has been seen as the office of hope the world over. The international community has seen the office of the Prime Minister as the solution to Zimbabwes difficulties. We take our plea to him to save us. Tsvangirai should engage the international community to unlock resources.

We want the help to sustain our businesses so that we can deal with our economy. We definitely need his help. As a small business sector we also need to unlock credit lines, loans and credit facilities so that our businesses start operating to full capacity like what we used to do in the 1980s and 1990s, said Dandare.

The business people added that there was goodwill from the international community, but there were some people within the GPA who were not serious.

Tammary Seke another business lady said: We have some elements from Zanu (PF) to blame. Some people are putting a durawall so that the GPA cannot go forward. They are participating in some issues that are not congruent to the GPA. The international community is asking how we can save Zimbabwe when the people themselves are failing to implement the terms of the GPA.

Seke said the business people should embrace the GPA because it was the only way they could save Zimbabwe.
