The officers set up roadblocks at the seven km peg along the Nyanga – Mutare highway.
“As residents of Mutasa, we are greatly concerned about corrupt ZRP Mutare Traffic section officials, Ntuli. M and his other counterpart. These guys have been manning roadblocks on a daily basis for almost a month now. They operate at Africa University junction and Lamour which are quite hideous spots compared to the Harare- Mutare highway where their fraudulent activities would raise eyebrows. They openly demand bribes from motorists. It’s unfortunate that we lost contact details for Inspector Chigombe in Harare.
In response to the complaints of the motorists, Assistant Commissioner Kenny Mutombeni, who is responsible for the administration for national traffic police, said: “We note with regret that there are some unscrupulous officers abusing their duties to frustrate motorists and transport operators. No any roadblock should be manned by two police officers unless the officers are on a motorbike. I would like the motorists to ignore such roadblocks. In fact they should affect a citizen arrest on these unscrupulous officers.”

MUTARE - Motorists should ignore roadblocks manned by less than two police officers, a senior police officer has said. This came after residents of Mutasa in Manicaland province complained of corruption at a roadblock manned by two "notorious" traffic police officers, one of them identified as Ntuli M.
