warriors_squadHARARE - A fierce battle for the Warriors coaching job has begun between two foreigners, former Bangladesh's Serbian coach, Zoran Djordjevic, and former Tottenham Hotspur reserve coach, Peter Battler, a source in ZIFA confirmed.

Former Nigeria senior soccer team captain and Togo coach Stephen Keshi and Roy Barretto who has coached the Warriors are some of the foreign candidates who have applied to coach the Warriors.

Barretto has ceased to be a Zimbabwean after he acquired a Portuguese citizenship and is now residing in the United Kingdom. Former Black Aces and Warriors coach Marc Duvillard and former AmaZulu coach Cosmas “Tsano Zulu” are the only local coaches who have applied.

The closing date for the submission of applications was Sunday 15 August.

“This is the final list of candidates who have shown interest in the job. We are now considering their applications and a decision will be made soon. The coach from Serbia also has a very impressive CV,” said the source.

The Warriors are preparing for their 2012 African Cup of Nations qualifiers. They are in Group A which includes seasoned campaigners Mali and the Cape Verde. The Warriors, who are ranked 110 in the world, failed to qualify for the last two editions of the tournament.
