The member was attacked when he defended his white employers in a company that had been ear marked for a take over by Zanu (PF). “Our member Edmore Munenekwa was struck on the face with an iron bar when he told Zanu (PF) militia members to stop harassing his employers, who are white Zimbabweans,” said Methuseli Moyo, ZAPU’s Director of Information. When the youths went to the automobile company their intention was to deal with the owner Gary Fury who had previously ignored calls from Zanu (PF) youths to hand over the company.
The Zanu (PF) youth chairman for Bulawayo, Butholezwe Gatsi, said his party believed in black empowerment and they also had an issue with how one of the company managers was improperly suspended. “The owners of the company have no respect for blacks. One of the black managers was suspended in unclear circumstances. Besides, the company is one of those we have identified in Bulawayo to include black ownership,” he said.

BULAWAYO - ZAPU has expressed its anger over the assault of one of its members by Zanu (PF) thugs last Monday.
