Zim coach to select 2011 WC players

allan_butcherHARARE - Zimbabwe coach Alan Butcher (pictured) said a tour of South Africa and Bangladesh would help him choose the right players for next year's International cricket Council Cricket World Cup.

“I need to sort out the right personnel for the ICC Cricket World Cup 2011. There are still one or two positions still up for grabs and you would appreciate that I am still reasonably new to the job and the winter break meant I couldn’t watch all the players on the franchise scene,” he told media in Harare after Zimbabwe managed a tense last ball victory over Ireland in the first One-Day International at the Harare Sports Club this past weekend.

He said this with less than 150 days to go for the ICC Cricket World Cup 2011. Zimbabwe are placed in Group A alongside four-time winners Australia, Pakistan, New Zealand, Sri Lanka, Kenya and Canada.

The team will tour South Africa and later Bangladesh for a series of One Day Internationals to prepare for ICC’s flagship event that will be played in Asia.
