Tuku headlines Malawi Lake of Stars Festival

oliver_mtukudziHARARE - Zimbabwean legend Oliver Mtukudzi (pictured) will headline next months Lake of Stars Festival to be held on the sun-kissed shores on Lake Malawi.

In its seventh year, vinspired Lake of Stars Festival returns to Sunbird Nkopola Lodge, Mangochi on October 15 for three sun-filled days of music, arts and culture.

Festival Founder Will Jameson said they were privileged this year to have such a dynamic contingent of Zimbabwean artists who were volunteering their time to perform at one of the worlds most exciting events.

Widely regarded as one of the most celebrated performers in the country’s history, Mtukudzi is a gifted performer with a deep, gutsy voice and a talent for writing songs that reflect on the daily life and struggles of the people of Zimbabwe, said Jameson. We are also fortunate to have the African-debut of UK powerhouse, Noisettes and up and coming talent, Tinash. It is something of a homecoming for Noisettes front woman, Shingai Shoniwa, and Tinash, who both have roots in Zimbabwe.

This years festival features the best line up yet with more than 40 artists from Zimbabwe, Malawi, Zambia, Tanzania, South Africa, Cte d’Ivoire, Burundi and the UK including Peter Mawanga, Aly Keita, Get Cape.
