Miss Zim Diamond was set up by talented Zimbabweans with a wealth of experience in the entertainment industry.
We are passionate about flying the flag of Zimbabwe in the Diaspora and creating awareness of the beauty and talent Zimbabwe has to offer as a people and a country, said Glorianne Francis, CEO of the organisation.
The plan is to have filmed auditions around the country as part of a road show leading to the final in September 2011. The road show begins in Leeds on October 16 and it is intended to be entertaining and have surprise guest judge appearances where the contestants will be selected to go through to the semi -final via boot-camp.
We are currently in talks with a TV media partner, however, we intend to show the footage of all auditions via social media as a way of marketing the event and attracting widespread interest, said Francis.
The Finalists will be housed and filmed while they carry out tasks and contribute to various communities. They will be judged on beauty, presentation, contribution to community, business skills and most importantly how they conduct themselves. The Finalist will be announced in June 2011.
The main sponsor of the project is Econet, with several top Zimbabwean stars endorsing it.
Miss Zim Diamond will be a spectacular event intended to raise the profile of talented Zimbabwean women and attract tourism and investment into Zimbabwe and the UK through the entertainment industry by encouraging Personal Development, Social Enterprise and Philanthropy, said Francis.
