Musona hogs the limelight

The youthful striker, who has been a revelation since joining the Soweto giants at the beginning of last season, has emerged as one of the early front-runners for the Golden Boot Award, after scoring his third league goal at the weekend. Musona emerged the hero again for Chiefs at the weekend, as his overall contribution shot the Amakhosi to second position on the 16-team log with a 2-0 win over champions Supersport United at the Lucas Moripe Stadium Sunday.

The striker broke the ice against the run of play in the 41st minute, slamming home a first-time shot from 16-yards out, after midfielder Mthokozisi Yendes neat chip with the outside of his boot had left the Matsatsantsa offside trap exposed.

The Zimbabwean created the second and final goal of the match, when he set up Siyabulela Songwiqi in the 84th minute.

With their first league win in five outings over Supersport, Chiefs, the only unbeaten side in the league so far in the season, moved to 14 points, one behind leaders Mamelodi Sundowns’ 15.
