At least all 30 boreholes in the area are out of order and MP Ward Nezi is concerned that people are drinking unsafe water.
The government only drilled the boreholes but did not monitor them. This has resulted in the gradual decline of the boreholes. There is therefore need for government to commit resources towards the rehabilitation of boreholes not only in Murehwa but across the country,” said Nezi.
At a cost of US$700 to drill a new borehole, Murehwa East requires at least US$21 000 to repair and drill new boreholes that will ensure that people have access to safe drinking water.
