Former CAPS United coach Gishon Ntini said the fact that Motor Action were still leading the log at this stage — although this might change after todays matches — showed that they had what it takes to withstand the heat from the pursuing pack led by DeMbare.
“I think Motor Action will win the league title. They have players with gritty and tenacity to achieve this. They have been very consistent and at this stage they do not have any pressure but it is Dynamos who have pressure because they are trailing behind,” he said.
Partson Ndabambi, a former Shooting Stars coach, echoed Ntinis sentiments, adding that Motor Action looked well motivated because of the financial support they get from the team owner Eric Rosen.
I tip Motor Action to win this league title. They have financial support from their owner Rosen. He is very passionate with the game and you can see the way their players play that they are motivated,” said Ndabambi, adding that this season could be another year for the little known teams.
“If you look at what has been happening in the past two years you can see that it is the small teams that have been dominating. Dynamos were beaten to the title by (then) little known Gunners at the end of last season.
Monomotapa did the same in 2008 when they won the league title under the guidance of Norman Mapeza. It looks like the trend will continue. I don’t see Dynamos being able to stop Motor Action.
Motor Action lead the pack ahead of todays matches with 58 points from 26 matches while Dynamos are on 57 from 25 matches after they narrowly beat the Mighty Bulls 2-1 in a controversial match last Sunday.
But DeMbare, who play Gunners this afternoon while Motor Action are inactive, can go top of the log today if they win at Rufaro today.
Lengthens coach Joesten Mathuthu is also tipping Motor Action to lift the league title.
“I think Motor Action have a very good chance. They have been very consistent throughout the season and if they stay focused I don’t see them being beaten to the title. They deserve to win this title because they worked hard this season,” said Mathuthu.
The Lengthens coach, however, warned that Dynamos were hungry this season to win
the league title after they last won it in 2007.
He said: “It is not going to be easy for Motor Action though because Dynamos appear hungry to win the league title this season. It has been a long time since they won it and they are obviously not happy because they are used to dominate. They also have experience especially when the race reaches this stage. They also have a huge support base at this stage. That works to their advantage.”
