We are MDC – Ncube

welshman_ncubeHARARE - The newly elected president of the smaller formation of the MDC, usually referred to as MDC-M, says the party will take legal action against journalists who continue to call the party MDC-N. (Pictured: Ncube)

The party split from the main MDC and used the initial of its former leader, Arthur Mutambara, to differentiate it from the mainstream MDC led by Prime Minister Morgan Tsvangirai.

Ncube’s spokesman, Kurauone Chihwayi, said in an exclusive interview that the party’s name was “MDC” only and not “MDC-M” or “MDC-N” as regularly reported in the media.

Last week the Zanu (PF) Secretary for Administration, Didymus Mutasa, jokingly “congratulated” Ncube, saying his party now had a new name – MDC-N.

“We are now very tired of being called names which do not belong to us. We debated the issue of the name change during our annual congress and we decided that we are simply MDC fullstop,” said an irate Chihwayi.
