Dynamos now carry a healthy lead going into the second leg in Algeria in a fortnight. Only a draw in the second leg will see them through to the second round of Africa’s premier club competition. It is more than a decade ago since Dynamos displayed such a vintage performance against visiting teams.
“It has been a long time since we witnessed such type of football,” said Josh Wozheri, a staunch Dynamos supporter. “Dynamos have shown why they are the ninth best team in Africa. They are very fluid and are playing a good passing game since Lloyd Mutasa took over. I will not be surprised if they win the African Champions League trophy this year.”
Another Dynamos fan Tonderai Makweta likened Mutasa to Barcelona coach Pep Guardiola. “Mutasa is the Pep Guradiola of Zimbabwe. His has introduced a passing game that reminds us of the glory days of the 1980s. I think Mutasa should be drafted into the national team set up. He is by far the best coach in the country today,” he said.
Guthrie Zhokinyus strike from the spot after 17 minutes and three other goals by newboy Rodrick Mutuma(43rd), Denver Mukamba (78) and former Hwange midfielder Farai Vimisayi Vimisayi who applied the coup de grace with Dynamos fourth after 85 minutes were enough to seal victory for the Glamour Boys.
Dynamos are now set to travel to Algeria where they are expected to finish their opponents off and advance to the next stage of the competition.
