Mugabe considering hand over?

mugabHARARE - Some members of the SADC Troika on defence and security reportedly asked Mugabe (pictured) last week to step down as Head of State, in order to save the country from unnecessary political squabbles and stave off potential mass up risings.

Some of Mugabes top security officers said: Mugabe was asked to cede power since his popularity and style of governance had plunged the once breadbasket of the region into an economic spiral. The aged leader could not give the expected

immediate response, but promised to think about it.

Mugabes response reportedly did not go down well with the Troika.

Meanwhile, in a gesture apparently meant to save face, Mugabe dismissed SADC resolutions on Zimbabwe as toothless and threatened that Zanu (PF) would have its way without external interference. He wants elections before a new constitution is put in place and is not keen to adopt the SADC drafted roadmap to the polls.
