An exhilarated Manhenga said this week that the forthcoming album is a 10-track music project that she hopes will make an impact on the domestic jazz scene.
Manhenga added, The album is a collection of the all time best songs. We have fused and rearranged the songs that we hope will give a jazz touch to our audience. I have always wanted to give my fans some unique jazz music and I hope that the fans will be able to accept it.
Tracks to look forward to include Turning Point, where Manhenga embraces new ideas where her jazz music career is concerned.
Another spectacular aspect of her album is that she has managed to mix languages in the album. She has sung in English, Shana and Ndebele.
The song Handidi, is a Shona love song where Dudu, as Manhenga is affectionately known, centres on the importance of decision making during a love relationship.
In an Ndebele song called Isithembiso, the jazz maestro emphasises the need for people to fulfil their promises. Manhenga said she was looking forward to registering the album internationally for purposes of marketing.
I have decided to register the songs internationally so that our music can be recognised on an international platform. As an artist that move can give us exposure and would like to be honoured on international awards. This can also make our music appreciated globally, she said.
She encouraged other jazz artists to keep the jazz culture alive and not drift away from the genre.
