The programme will target those interested in venturing into commercial rearing of small livestock such as goats, rabbits and poultry.
FAO will bankroll the programme and farmers have already started submitting their proposals for funding to the department of livestock production.
Livestock Production and Development deputy director Munyaradzi Chimowa said the small livestock project is aimed at developing livestock which include goats, rabbits and poultry on commercial basis.
Farmers will receive funding for the projects after they submitted proposals and the programme will be rolled in all districts across the country, Chimowa said.
He said most farmers in rural areas normally focus on subsistence farming and the programme will make them realize benefits of commercialisation.
