Zimbabwean murdered in Cape Town

Another Zimbabwean man died this week in Cape Town after being stabbed to death; this follows a similar incident which transpired in Polokwane this week whereby his fellow country man was stoned to death this week due to xenophobic related allegations.

Police Captain Gerhard Niemand confirmed the incident but said no one had been arrested.

"We are still trying to bring people responsible for this crime to book and we appeal for the public to help us if they know the people behind this atrocious thing."

Prior to his death the Zimbabwean man was at CNB's Braaiplace which is owned by Congolese national Kamz Kaskote-Musubao. He told the Zimbabwean the he saw the deceased and friend running back as they were closing their shop.

"They left this place and they came back running after sometime. The deceased's clothes were soaked in blood and he told me he was stabbed.

I saw traces of blood in School Street, where the two apparently met their attackers. Unfortunately when we called the police the other victim was already dead but the other one was rushed to hospital where he is being treated for stab wounds," he added.

A man who only identified himself as Abdulla Ismail said continued attacks has to do with hate on foreigners who are running successful businesses in the country.

"These people are just jealous of us. We work tirelessly to make ends meets but due to their laziness as they like relying on grants makes them angry and end up attacking us. Look what is happening country wide to foreigners daily?" he questioned.

Meanwhile, in a separate incident to foreign Bangladesh nationals were also attacked and nearly set alight for being foreigners in the same area.

Ismail Rajur and Abdul Khair were sleeping in their shop when the thugs broke in through the roof and attacked them then stabbed Khair.

"These seven robbers ordered us to stand in the middle of the house and one of them said they were going to burn us exactly like one of our friends who died last week due to xenophobic attacks. I thought we were dead so I prayed and was saved," he added.

Police constable Consolation Mokoale confirmed that three suspects were arrested and will appear in court soon charged with robbery and attempted murder.
