“I have never eaten any money and that is very foolish for our members to try and taint my name along those lines,” he said at the weekend.

Suspended Head of Security, Lizwe Gwebu, told The Zimbabwean of money laundering in the party and labelled Mkwanazi a ‘corrupt creep’, tribalist and dictator out to serve his own interests.

“There is chaos; our offices have been closed down. Our current provincial leadership is very corrupt and the party owes R80 000 in unpaid rentals.

Our leadership misused party funds for their personal gains. The man is a tribalist and very corrupt. We pay monthly subscriptions but it seems we are enriching greedy and corrupt elements within the party,” alleged Gwebu.

Sources within MDC-N said infighting had forced the NEC to indefinitely postpone the provincial congress planned for next weekend.

Suspensions of Gwebu, deputy provincial chairperson Isaac Mzimba and Youth chairperson Khawulani Mlawuzi has resulted split the party.

Meanwhile, visiting youth Assembly Secretary General, Discent Bajila, has challenged his counterparts to try and resolve their differences amicably.

“We in Zimbabwe don’t know what is happening here and we will wait for the provincial report and that is when we will take action, but we want everything to be ironed out amicably as we edge closer to a democratic Zimbabwe,” he said.

Some members believe Mkwanazi is a Zanu (PF) agent sent to destabilize the South African wing of the party.
