Ncube who is the former MP for the area took the keys away when he left office in 2008. The keys were for the main gate and this made it impossible for anyone to gain entry into the centre. Efforts by the MP to get access to the keys were unfruitful since 2008 until he engaged Parliament officials who intervened and broke the locks at the main gate and the doors.
It was further discovered that the former personal aide to Ncube only identified as Sai is still on the Parliamentary payroll for the past three years when she had since left working for Parliament.
Since the intervention of the Parliamentary officials Hon. Tazviona has managed to resource the Information Centre with new furniture, a computer and reading materials. The items were purchased through the Constituency Development Fund.
In Mashonaland East,Godfrey Maronge, the MDC Secretary for Ward 1 in Mudzi North, had to seek treatment after he was assaulted on Friday by Constable Peter Pedzevere. The notorious Constable is known for harassing and intimidating MDC activists. Last month the police officer assaulted Godfrey Chapfora who is the MDC Ward 1 Organising Secretary.
According to a medical report, Maronge sustained a deep cut on the forehead and internal body injuries’.
He reported the assault at Nyamapanda Police Post in Mudzi and one Constable Gapara ordered that a medical examination be conducted. Maronge, who could hardly walk when he visited Harvest House today said Pedzevere, who always threatens known MDC supporters with unspecified action is feared to be armed. No police action has been taken against him.
