
The fullback spent the better part of the last campaign on the sidelines owing to a combination of loss of form and injury as his team eventually finished third in the Absa Premiership campaign.
The former Gunners star played second fiddle to Bafana Bafana hopeful, Punch Masenamela, who has since moved to Mamelodi Sundowns. Jambo is hopeful of convincing head coach Vladimir Vermezovic to grant him a regular run in the Absa Premiership hopefuls.
“The coach makes the final decision on who plays and employs the tactics on the day. It is my job to work hard and try to ensure that I am part of his and the technical team’s plans. I also feel that if I stay injury free I will manage to get more game time than I did in the last season,” Jambo said in an interview at the Chiefs Village in Johannesburg ahead of the weekend.
The player is buoyed by his performances in the just-ended pre-season Vodacom Challenge where he played against Orlando Pirates.
He is planning to use the experience as a launch pad for a positive 2011/12 campaign, which Chiefs kickoff with an MTN 8 quarterfinal match against neighbours Bidvest Wits next weekend.
