Zanu (PF) to release election guidelines

Zanu (PF) will next week release its primary election guidelines, a senior party official has said.

Speaking at the Cotco Makoni District Farming Awards held here at Nzvimbe last week, Zanu (PF) national chairman, Simon Khaya Moyo, said:

“The release of the primary election regulations is demonstrative of our intentions and preparedness to go to polls this year.”

Some negotiating teams in the Global Political Agreement (MDC-T and MDC-M), as well as some international and local observers, are against holding of elections this year saying the country is not ready.

“As a party we want elections this year. Next week we will be releasing the guidelines that will govern the conduct of our primary elections. Those that meet the guidelines will be eligible to contest for positions,” explained Khaya Moyo.

He admitted that Zanu (PF) was heavily trounced by PM Morgan Tsvangira’s MDC party, but attributed the loss to Zanu (PF) sell outs.

“Some of our officials were moving around intimidating people and lying to them in the name of the President (Robert Mugabe). They were imposing people claiming that they had the blessings of the President.

This time we will not allow that. This affected us in the last polls where we lost the majority of our seats to MDC,” he said Khaya Moyo also confirmed that the party was receiving election campaign materials from China.

“To win these elections we have our good Chinese friends who have given us some election campaign materials that will see us winning the elections,” said Khaya Moyo.

He added that China wanted Zanu (PF) to reclaim its domination in the Zimbabwean political landscape that has been dominated by Morgan TsvangiraI’s MDC party.
