NACZ wants regularisation

All players within the arts and culture sector intending to facilitate arts-related activities must ensure their registration with the National Arts Council is valid, the regulatory body announced in a recent press statement.

Arts organizations, festivals, promoters and arts associations are urged to comply with the NACZ Act of 1985 and statutory instruments 87 of 2006, to enable them to garner the support of all stakeholders in the promotion and development of the arts.

“As a matter of principle, the NACZ will not support or partner unregistered individuals and organizations as it moves towards professionalizing the arts. It is therefore the onus of all stakeholders and members of the public to demand sight of a valid registration certificate from all players within the sector,” reads the press release.

The organisation warned those stakeholders and members of the public who have brandished unauthentic letters claiming NACZ collaboration instead of the required certificate in a bid to swindle arts enthusiasts out of their hard earned resources.

Members of the public and the media are encouraged to verify with NACZ claims of partnering with the institution by individuals and organizations. Such communication helps avoid unnecessary inconveniences and protects the arts and culture sector from practitioners bent on destroying the foundations of promoting the development of the arts on which NACZ is built upon.
