The team’s medical staff said they would make a last minute decision on whether the Zimbabwe international could play against Bidvest Wits at the Mbombela Stadium in Nelspruit, Mpumalanga on Tuesday.

The skipper was a casualty in Zimbabwe’s convincing win over Liberia in an African nations Cup qualifier in Harare last weekend.

“All the Mamelodi Sundowns players who were on international duty have reported for work, with a number of injury concerns. Captain Method Mwanjale returned from Zimbabwe’s 3-0 victory against Liberia with a cut on his head and the medical team will assess him further to check if it is not a concussion,” the team said in a statement from Chloorkop, Johannesburg.

Mwanjali played 80 minutes against the Lone Stars and was substituted by Archieford Gutu following his injury in the match Zimbabwe eventually won 3-0. He is one of several players that returned injured from international duty alongside Mozambican midfielder Elias Pelembe and Katlego Mphela, the Bafana Bafana striker.
