Coventry completed the games with a medal haul of four gold and four silver and was rewarded for her heroic achievements with $2 500 from Team Zimbabwe.

The swimming team has completed its tour of duty, but other sporting disciplines are still battling it out at the continental games.

"I would like to thank our officials in Team Zimbabwe for helping us put up this fantastic show. Morale in camp was quite high and I would like to challenge the remaining athletes to represent the country with pride and distinction. We know they can do it," said Coventry.

Her swimming compatriots at the games, who included Nicole Horn, Samantha Welch and Kirsten Lapham, also went home smiling after they were also rewarded with cash for their exploits, which left Zimbabwe among the top five countries on the medals table at the halfway stage of the games.
