As a result I now realise more than ever before the topical significance and relevance of part of a dissertation by Zimbabwean academic Dr Rory Pilossof devoted to white Zimbabwean farmers, 'The unbearable whiteness of being: white farming voices in Zimbabwe and their narration of the recent past, C. 1970-2004'.
The publication when in book format should be required reading for the CFU, whose present policies are enmeshed in a time warp and totally out of touch with grim reality. Whilst CFU strategy is focused on mapping The way forward its few remaining active members are being left behind and forced backwards: cajoled bludgeoned dispossessed and violently eliminated. It is a matter of fact that until the rule of law is restored there will be no way forward.
One is reminded of the legend of Nero playing sweet music on his lyre to calm and reassure his loyal and terrified followers while Rome burned. Similarly the politically correct and sweet lyrics coming from the second floor of Harare's Agriculture House is maybe just as calming and reassuring to the ears of CFU members.
However such melodious sounds are totally ineffective when played to the hostile hip hop audience of disinterested political rappers that comprise Zanu (PF) and the so-called Government of National Unity. – MIKE ROOK (ex-CEO Zimbabwe's The Farmer magazine)
