Police spokesman, Wayne Bvudzijena, is instead appealing to the public to come forward with information that could assist the probe. No one has claimed responsibility for the attack, which came just days before a crucial meeting of the regional bloc, SADC. Officials have so far refused to speculate on who might be behind the blast, which went off at around 1am in the leafy suburb where Biti lives with his family.
"The investigations are ongoing, and nothing has come out of the investigations," Bvudzijena said.
A top police source said the attackers used "improvised explosive devices". He said the bombs were made of ammonium nitrate and were not remotely triggered.
Biti has urged the security agencies to expedite the search for the culprits.
