After the closure of the maternity clinics in April this year by the Health Professionals Authority, Ruwa has managed to recruit five nurses with midwifery qualifications, modern delivery beds, an ambulance, and resuscitation equipment.
“We have secured most of the things that the HPA was demanding and we are now waiting for them to come and give us the nod to start taking in pregnant women,” Ruwa mayor, Pinias Mushayavanhu, said in an interview.
Ruwa polyclinic and Ruwa Clinic both which are administered by Goromonzi Rural District Council were shut down in February by the Health Professions Authority and the Nurses Council for failing to meet minimum set standards for maternity services.
