“CCWG believes that the international debate under the auspices of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change should meet the basic demands of the developing countries,” said Shepard Zvigadza, Chairperson of CCWG.
These are a prerequisite, he said, for a sustainable and legally binding international document on mitigating and adaptation to climate change and securing the rights and aspirations of all people.
“Due to the complex nature and magnitude of climate change negotiation sessions, CCWG is also urging the Government to include a climate change negotiating team from a broader spectrum of ministries,” said Mutuso Dhliwayo, Director of the Zimbabwe Environmental Lawyers Association, another member of CCWG.
CCWG Zimbabwe is composed of more than 40 civil society organizations and individuals.
