The initiative resulted in a pilot project being launched here by Fambidzanai Permaculture Centre. The farmers received training on organic conservation agriculture and 21 farmers were presented with certificates on organic standards theory and application, in collaboration with the Zimbabwe Organic Producers and Promoters Association Trust.
Following the training, rural farmers here are relying on materials like cow dung, tins, bones, decomposed manure and leaves to improve the fertility of their fields.
Fambidzanai Permaculture centre is a training center that was established in 1988. The centre has fostered the creation of four other development institutions namely The Natural Farming network, the Schools and Colleges Permaculture, African Farmer Organic Research and Training, and Participatory Ecological Land Use Management.
