The National Organising Secretary, Nelson Chamisa, agreed last week to a suggestion by Marondera East Party District Chairperson, Samuel Machekanyanga that the embarrassment caused to the Chief who attended the ill-fated rally, called for an apology from the MDC-T top leadership.
“The rowdy behaviour showed gross disrespect to the chieftainship, which is the highest traditional authority in the area. The chief is owed a sincere and genuine apology by MDC-T,” said Machekanyanga.
The case has now gone to court and disciplinary hearings by a top decision making body are underway.
Some 15 party youths including Town Mayor, Farai Nyandoro, were fingered in connection with the scuffle which left some party officials nursing injuries. Two Boy area is an MDC-T stronghold under the councillorship of party cadre, Brighton Chapendama of ward 20.
