MDC led Redcliff Town Council commissioned new toilets

The MDC led Redcliff Town Council on Monday commissioned 400 new toilets in sections A, B, F, G, H and J in Torwood. The toilets were built after the council secured a loan of US$550 000 from the Ministry of Finance headed by Hon. Tendai Biti.

Redcliff Mayor, Joseph Matewa said the council was committed to the construction of new toilets and ensuring that every household has access to clean water.

Mayor Matewa said the council managed to upgrade the sewer system and renovated council beer halls in Rutendo and Torwood suburbs, which will be handy in generating the much needed revenue for the council.

Hon. Settlement Chikwinya, the MP for Mbizo, commended the development in Torwood and said that by building the toilets and rehabilitating the sewer system, the council values the health and safety of its residents.

Meanwhile, preparations are underway for the MDC 13th Anniversary celebrations to be held at White City Stadium in Bulawayo on 29 September 2012. This year’s celebrations will be held under the theme; “MDC @13 The Last Mile: Towards Real Transformation".

The main event, at White City Stadium in Bulawayo, shall set the tone for similar festivities to be held countrywide. Last year’s celebrations attended by thousands of party supporters were held at Gwanzura in Harare.
