
“I applied for my child’s birth certificate in June and it’s still not out. Home Affairs officials told me to come and re-apply without giving me any explanation as to what happened to my previous application. These officials must be investigated,” said a seething Martha Nhamo.
Thabitha Sibanda said “Children of Zimbabwean parents normal lyget their birth certificates three weeks after application. But I applied in July and officials say they have lost my files and I should re-apply. I am working as a house maid, my bosses won’t give me any off day and my child now has a bleak future just because of some negligent officials.”
James Moyo said he was told birth certificates files were mistakenly misplaced. Sources within the Department of Home Affairs said they are aware of the situation and it was being internally investigated. DHA spokesperson, Manusha Pillai urged Zimbabwean citizens to come forward if they suspect fraudulent activities.
