Masinire was fired in April last year after he was found guilty of charges of corruption, nepotism and abuse of council resources. The court hear that he leaked information about interview questions to friends wishing to join the council.
The City Council successfully produced evidence obtained from the telecommunications company Telone, chronicling phone calls he made to his colleagues prior to the interviews.
Other charges included abuse of fuel allocations and gross corruption. He appealed before Bulawayo Labour Court Judge, Mercy Moya Matshanga, who ruled in his favour and ordered his immediate reinstatement. A full council meeting held last week unanimously resolved to appeal the decision.
